Today was good. Yesterday was… well, interesting. It was\’c3\’82\’c2\~a Monday. Monday is laundry day at my house, which I generally try to stick around for. This was an unusual Monday in that I was expecting my friend Mystie to come for a one-night trip that morning, so I was washing and drying the sheets in the [...] When I was 13 I got a job babysitting twice weekly for a local Assembly of God for two of their weekly meetings. I would stay in the nursery with the little kids, while their parents prayed or studied in the sanctuary. One little boy, by the name of Hunter, was very fond of trucks, so [...] Yesterday we had dinner around 5:00 (which felt more like 4:00) and Judah went back to his room while I finished my food and did dishes. I went back and opened the dar starting to say “I hope you haven’t made a big mess in your room again…!!” But I stopped when I saw him lying [...] [Note: this was an excerpt from an email I wrote my grandfather - it seemed to sum things up nicely, so I copy/pasted]\’c3\’82\’c2\~ \par \par Those boys of mine keep growing up more every day! Ezra has reached a new threshold in climbing – he can maneuver himself onto a dining room chair all by himself now, as well [...] \’c3\’82\’c2\~Valentine’s Day falls very inconveniently into the middle of Tax Season. It’s during that time of year that I tend to just shrug off conventional activities – some other time perhaps. I always keep my romantic expectations very low, and am thus always pleasantly surprised by Michael’s effort to make some acknowledgment of the day, even [...] I finally got around to starting another sourdough starter this week. Of course, as timing goes, it wasn’t perfect, since I’ll be out of town next week so it’ll have to hibernate in the refrigerator while I’m gone, but I finally decided I had to start it NOW or I wouldn’t do it until spring when [...] After trying a variety of techniques for washing Judah’s hair, we have settled on the simple one of having Judah look straight up in the air while I pour water on his hair. Simple seeming, anyway – it usual takes repeated tellings and many reminders to get him to look way up and to keep looking [...] Judah, as he searched:\par Yes, today is the kick-off for tax season. Tax-season – for the uninitiated, is the time when people do their paperwork for Uncle Sam, hopefully before April 15th, send it in, and forget about it. Tax-season for the few, the proud, the brave – (the CPAs) is the time when you deal with everybody else’s tax [...] This morning as I was making pancakes with Judah, he requested that he be able to flip the pancakes with a spatula. I told him that that wasn’t a job for little boys, but that he could do so “when he was older.”\par I haven’t written much lately! That’s because we’ve been very busy, yet not on things that I immediately want to write about. I think that’s why, anyway.\par The busiest at any rate. At our book study for “young marrieds” (at the last one which I attended Michael and I had been married the longest of the “young couples” there!!) we discussed a chapter of My Life For Yours about Christmas, and several of us felt ashamed of our less than enthusiastic view of [...] We had a very happy Thanksgiving at my parents this last week! We were going to stay Wednesday through Sunday, but ended up leaving Saturday afternoon to avoid the bad weather predicted to start today (Sunday). I’m glad we did! My mom called this morning to tell me that it was snowing there and that there [...] On Sunday I got the bug to decorate for Christmas. It was too early to decorate for Christmas, according to my normal reasoning, but I am trying to impliment Don Aslet’s “Do It Now” policy so I started. Mostly I got out things that were not too complicated – no lights, no fake pine-needles, no tinsel. [...] Michael was on a business trip this last week, Wednesday through Friday. He was there with a coworker, John, with whom he carpooled. Apparently he told him that I was going to a “Jane Austen Party” on Saturday (actually a Pride and Prejudice party where we watched the entire A&E version of the beloved novel). John [...] I picked Ezra up out of bed one morning\’c3\’82\’c2\~and brought him to my room. He started fussing so I said “are you hungry?” He turned around and headed out the door and down the hall toward the kitchen.\par [...] While I was doing the dishes tonight I began to hear peals of laughter emanating from Ezra in the other room. I crept over to see what Big Brother was doing to elicit such a response: He was jumping from the top of the coffee table to the couch over and over again.\par Not tragic, but our anniversary celebration surprise is postponed until next week due to the weather. What about the weather, you may ask?\’c3\’82\’c2\~Too hot? Too cold? Too wet? Too dry? Too humid? Too windy? Too still? I don’t know, and I guess I’ll have to wait ANOTHER\’c3\’82\’c2\~WHOLE WEEK to [...] |
