Just Can’t Get Enough..

My newest obsession is an online game called Xplorers, which closely resembles Settlers of Catan, although the site staunchly denies and refutes any connection. I’ve spent an embarrassing amount of time playing it lately.\par

As addictions usually do, this one started out small. Rose, my sister in law, has the board game and invited us to play. I assented, even though I don’t normally like games, and discovered I rather enjoyed it. This lead to more playing with Rose, playing with other folks, and finally to the discovery of an awfully similar game online where one can play\’c2\~ by oneself with computer players known as \’c2\~”bots” or with bots and other people.\’c2\~ Sometimes I play with Michael online (almost every evening for the last week), and today I played a game with Judah online (with Michael advising him). He thrashed me. It wasn’t fair, I was all set up to win, then my resources dried up… well, anyway.\’c2\~\par

The nice thing about the game is that, when played with computer players, a typical game takes less than half an hour. Also, Michael likes to play games and this is a fun, easy, low-time-investment thing for us to do together on weekday evenings, and Saturday afternoons… and Saturday evenings… and Sunday afternoons…
