Last weekend I went to my first-ever Dutch Blitz weekend with all of my Blitz playing church friends! We went to Lincoln City on Friday, shopped all day at the outlet center on Saturday and drove home on Sunday morning to make it to church in Oregon City. I had a great time! Just Monica went with me – the boys stayed home with Dad (and also had a good time going to a football game!), so I was largely unemcumbered. However, Monica did not sleep as well as usual in a new place, and what with staying up late two nights playing Dutch Blitz and getting up early to go to drive home for church on Sunday, I have not yet recovered from sleep deprivation.\par

The shopping on Saturday went really well! There might be one or two people I have not bombarded with the information that I am currently attempting to pull myself out of the 3-little-kids-and-too-cheap-to-buy-cute-clothes frumpy housewife ditch that I’ve been living in, by updating my wardrobe. As cheaply as possible, of course.
Anyway, last Saturday I made a few more steps in the right direction by buying a nicely-fitting pair of jeans at Old Navy, on sale, and two pairs of shoes from Nnaturalizer – some brown strappy wedge-heeled sandals for summer and a pair of shiny black peep-toe nearly-flat dress-shoes. I also bought a couple of baby-shower gifts, one outfit for Judah, and about 5 outfits for Monica among other things I can’t remember to list right now. Overall, it felt like a great success and I am soooo happy with my new jeans. I’ll just have to resist wearing them all the time and thus cutting their lifetime in half!\par

So, given the opportunity, I’ll definitely want to go on the Dutch Blitz weekend again! And now I’m just waiting ’til Quiet Time, so I can take a nap.
