Getting Off-Track

I was just reading a book about mammals to Judah. The last one we looked at was the cheetah. As I closed the book I explained to him that cheetas can accelerate faster than our car. He instantly replied: “but garbage trucks have to go slow, when they’re backing up.”\par

Where did that come from?\par

Judah’s pretty funny these days. Earlier he was telling me about how Daddy was pleased with him when he recited memory verses, “When [he] was a little child.”\par

Yesterday he told me that he wanted fish for breakfast. I exlaimed that we never have fish, and he said that he wanted to get some fish (as in fishing). He wanted his dad to take him, but I explained that Daddy didn’t really fish but that maybe Grandpa Mike might take him fishing someday in the big river near Grandpa’s house. The discussion was over and I didn’t think about it again until he started to explain to Rosanne last night how he was going to “get fish” with Grandpa Mike out of the water and then take it home to Grandpa Mike’s house and there Grandma Rachel would cook it and we would eat it. Apparently he’d given it some thought. So how ’bout it Grandpa Mike? In a year or so? :-)

If the little guy wants to go fishing and you don’t mind “cheating” a little, there is a great place that we have been to 2x already called Indian Springs Trout and Catfish farm. It isn’t too far from our house and you are sure to catch many fish in less than an hour! We spent less than $20 each time we went, didn’t have to bring any gear, they provide it ALL, and we didn’t have to clean the fish even, they do it for you while you watch! We returned home each time with many fresh trout on ice ready to cook up and eat! The kids all had a blast and daddy enjoyed watching them reel in fish after fish with little effort! Asa can tell your hubby how to get there if you guys are interested. It is a great place to take the kids and you are positively absolutely going to come home with fish and fun memories. (You can see my post about it on my blog under APRIL I believe.)
