It’s REALLY HOT here! I’m downstairs in the relatively comfortable basement, but I’m not relishing going upstairs in a few minutes and trying to sleep. The temperature in the kitchen reads 85 degrees!\par

Fortunately, we went over to my in-laws for a Family Dinner Night and were able to stay in their blessedly air-conditioned house or in our air-conditioned van for the hottest part of the day. The boys played outside on their slip-n-slide with Zane for a while, as well. This was the first time that Judah’s ever really relished playing in the water and actually getting sprinkled on. He’s 4 1/2 years old. We are just not water people, really. He even slid on the slip-n-slide, although he never brought himself to do so on his belly.\par

Michael, Judah, Ezra, Grandpa Howard, Great-Grandpa Leonard, Uncle Sam and Uncle Zane are all going on a guy’s only trip next weekend to Pacific City. The baby and I are staying home – but don’t worry, we have plans. On Friday we’ll go to a big 4th of July party at the Wilsons, and I’m expecting to do some clothes shopping for myself and the baby on Saturday. I’m actually really looking forward to it a lot. I don’t think of the 4th as a particularly family-oriented holiday, so I don’t mind if we’re not all together on it. As opposed to Christmas, for instance, which would be a much different story.\par

Well, enough nonsense. Now I think I’ll go read more of “Lost In A Good Book” by Jasper Fforde. It’s a sequel to “The Eyre Affair.” I recommend\’c2\~ that series to those of you who might enjoy a light, witty, somewhat goofy classics meets alternative world meets detective science fiction story. They’re not deep, but they are very interesting and entertaining! Hmmm.. upon reading the above, perhaps I should note that rather than having enough nonsense, I’m apparently going to go read more of it!
