Still Here #3

I don’t know how long this little girl is fixing to stay in her cosy location!! I feel like everything is in line, in place, all prepared for action and yet… nothing! I went to the doctor’s on Thursday, and things are moving along but no sign of immediate action. While there, I scheduled to go in on Monday morning to be induced, should I not have the baby before then. I wouldn’t mind waiting for a few more days particularly, but with Michael going back to work on Wednesday, it seemed like the thing to do. And it sure is nice to have a specific end-date – not to mention making it easier for my mom to know when to come: she’ll drive down tomorrow afternoon after church with my sister KD to watch the boys while we’re in the hospital, and then stay through Friday, probably.\par

We’ve been staying busy in a leisurely sort of way. Michael and I have watched No Country for Old Men and We Are Marshall this week. No Country was intense, and very memorable, if not necessarily enjoyable. We Are Marshall was a sports movie, so I missed half of the conversations due to sports jargon – not to mention having no idea what was going on during the all-important football games portrayed in the movie. I have enjoyed some inspirational sports movies, and this one was OK, and touching with the whole air-plane crash, but it felt a bit long to me.\par

Yesterday (Friday) Michael’s folks invited us over for the afternoon and dinner. The guys all ended up going to the Oregon Zoo with the 3 little boys, and Valerie and I stayed home, just the two of us, in air-conditioned splendor. It was really nice! Quiet.. cool.. uninterrupted! We ate popcorn and watched parts one and two of North and South, a movie I really enjoyed! I’ve watched the rest of it since we got home, and it is very enjoyable and satisfying. It’s more broad than a Jane Austen story – including a somewhat in-depth portrayal of the industrial revolution, worker conditions, labor unions, management, finances, speculation, etc. The boys had a good time at the zoo, although Ezra was pretty scared by the new Dinosaur exhibit they went to see.\par

So anyway… things are going pretty well, in spite of Monica’s tardiness. I’ll post after the baby’s born, if not before. We’ll see how long it takes to get pictures up… :-)
