We had a leak in our car – “a river running through it,” according to Mike, our mechanic. We discovered it last September and he finally isolated the problem and fixed a couple weeks ago. Now I have to steam-clean the van carpeting, which he took out, so he can put it back in again.\par

We had a leak in our shower. For who knows how many years, and finally the signs of dryrot became unmistakeable. A fixing job turned into an installment of a brand-new fiberglass shower in our basement. That job is all done and I wish I could use the shower downstairs, but it seems a bit ridiculous when our room is attached to the master bathroom upstairs…\par

Ants. We had somebody come and treat the house. The ants started to taper off. Then they started to increase again. I called the company (it was a guarantee) and the guy came out on Wednesday and baited again. The ants are again tapering and I feel much better already. What pesky little creatures they are!\par

The kids were sick. They still are. They both have coughs, mostly Judah, and it doesn’t appear to be going away any time soon. Fortunately, they’re feeling fine, just coughing. Judah and I stayed home from church last Sunday because of his cough – he threw up in the car as a result of his coughing, so we thought it better to keep him home.\par

I was sick. I’m feeling better. Haven’t taken cold medicine the last two nights.\par

My planned early-rising schedule has NOT worked out. As in, I’ve not been getting up early. Daylight savings time completely threw me off and I haven’t gotten back on yet. Plus, I’ve been taking naps. So I can’t get to sleep when Michael goes to bed at 8:30 – 9:30. Not so smart on my part.\par

Grandma Valerie came and dyed Easter Eggs with the boys on Tuesday. A good time was had by all. Ezra’s are considerably more pastel, which is an indication of his attention span for the egg-dying venture. Judah took the longest, dipping a couple eggs in nearly every color until they were a lovely shade of.. brown. Don’t they start out that way?\par

I planted basil in an ice-cube trays last week. It hasn’t come up.\par

Finally I put my old sewing machine on Craigs List and somebody is supposedly coming to take it away this evening! Hooray!\par

I went to Mira’s today for a scheduled playdate. She’d forgotten about the playdate.
I’ve forgotten about her coming before, so now we’re even.
We still had a good time.\par

My CD player finally bit the dust a week or so ago and I bought a new one on Wednesday. It’s just a CD boombox, but it also plays MP3s, which I understand is important in this day and age? The kids are NOT allowed to touch this one.\par

Tax season is going well in terms of Michael’s schedule. He’s home every night around 7:10 and sees the kids for about an hour before we put them to bed. It feels almost normal, except that he’s working 6 days a week, and the evenings are really short. I’m still anxious for tax season to be over (less than 4 weeks), and that anxiousness, combined with impatience regarding having 7-8 more weeks of pregnancy left is making me kind of an antsy person right now. I’ve got plenty to do, I’m just not motivated to do it and feel rather bored and sorry for myself at the same time! Ridiculous.\par

Haven’t made any bread this week. But I’m planning on starting something called “Pain l’ancienne” today which should be baked tomorrow. You mix up the dough with ice-water then put it in the refrigerator overnight before letting it rise and baking it the next day. It’s supposed to draw out the enzyme action, bringing more flavor out of the flour before the yeast even starts to act. I’ve never made it before, and today’s the day. I’ll try to remember to post how it turns out!\par

We’re going to a Good Friday service tonight. Michael explained to the boys about how it gets darker and darker and finally there’s supposed to be some sort of earthquake sound and bells ringing and now Judah’s scared to go. Oh well, I think it won’t be as scary as he’s expecting.\par

That’s it for now, have a good Resurrection Day everyone!
