Tax Widows Meeting

I had a couple other tax-season wives over for a ladies luncheon today! We were missing one of our number – originally 3 of us met at a wedding for one of Michael’s former co-workers and decided to get together during tax season. I arranged the meeting, finally finding a time that worked for everybody, but yesterday one of them sent word through her husband, to Michael, to me that she wasn’t going to be able to come. Fortunately, Michael had suggested I invite another one of the wives of a new staff-accountant, which I did on Tuesday, so our number was back up to 3. I made soup and bread (french sourdough baguettes, in case anybody wondered), and cookies, and one of the ladies brought a salad, so we had a nice little party. We had a good time! All three of us are Christians, although from pretty different backgrounds. The other two have been married less than a year (one of them got married on January 12, so went right from honeymoon to tax season), so it was fun to be the old married lady with nearly 6 tax seasons under my belt. :-) We agreed that we should do it again next year, and Melissa suggested that we schedule it more toward the beginning of tax season – so that we could do it twice in one season! I’m finding that I really love meeting people from ourside my normal environment – I should continue to find ways to do it more often. That way if I ever have a candle/avon/tupperware party again, I’ll actually have non-church friends to draw on! :-) (that’s not the only reason, of course… but it is a nice thought!)
