Yes! I am excited to be having a baby girl! After all, a baby girl is something new and different. I’m a little nervous as well – I’ve done (or, I should say “am doing”) boys… I don’t know what to expect from a girl. (From a boy you expect the unexpected – as when Judah emphatically declared he wanted a baby sister for months, then changed his mind a week before my ultrasound!!) I was looking at yarn yesterday at Walmart to make something for my baby girl. I’m sure I’ll get a lot of pink from friends and relatives and that’s great, but I personally prefer, well, boy colors. Blue and green and yellow and orange and red. But as I looked at the yarn I realized the difficulty: if I crochet my little girl blue poncho – everybody will think she’s a little boy! At least until she’s significantly older and has longer hair (although these days that’s not a guarantee of anything!). So I guess pink and purple are best after all! Or maybe blue trimmed with pink…

As to names, I think we have one. The first name is pretty much for sure and the middle name is provisional (i.e. unless we think of something we like better). But I don’t know whether Michael wants me to tell anybody before the baby’s born, so I’d better keep it to myself until I find out. Sorry.

It really doesn’t matter what you dress the baby up in. People are going to call her ‘him’ for a while. Sometimes I think I could dress Rinah up in a flashing neon ‘FEMALE’ sign and people would still walk up to me and say “He is soooo cute!”.
Congrats! You will have so much fun with a little girl. I don't think you have a thing in the world to worry about.Love,Liesl
Thanks! I'm not too worried… just a little anxious.
Did you have a good Christmas?!
Had a great Christmas. Ate too much but other than that a good time. How about you?
We had a great Christmas at my folk's new place in Richland, WA. The Boys had a blast and got two new big trucks for them to drive all over the place with and make lots of noise. Just exactly what I need. Ha ha. But it was fun.
I think each person has a default pronoun to use for babies and just use it without observing or thinking about it.\par

I, too, prefer non-pink. I like purple as long as it’s not too pastel, but I’ve been keeping my eyes open for green or purple or red girl things. \par

My solution for the lack of hair: A bonnet. I’ve crocheted a few and now we’ll just have to see if I actually end up using them as much as I think I will.
