Whew! Last week was busy! I had something going on the first three nights: Monday night I went to Cards (made cookies to bring), Tuesday I had a baby-shower to attend and bring a fruit platter to, and Wednesday night I had most of my in-town relatives over for a lasagna dinner. All but one of my local relatives added up to a whopping 4 adults and one baby.\par

Tuesday was the busiest day because I babysat my brother-in-law in the morning while making my shopping list, then went to Walmart and Winco in the afternoon – with every nut and his brother, mother, sister, and aunt. (Next year I need to remember NOT to go shopping Thanksgiving week if at all possible. Unless you can’t get those cheap turkeys the week before, and then I might just have to put up with it. I did get a 12 pound one. Small, I know, but I don’t yet have a larger freezer and had to get one that would fit into my side-by-side freezer.) Then I got home, put the groceries away, made dinner, ate dinner and just had time to frantically butcher a pineapple for the fruit platter and run out to my waiting carpool ride to get to the baby shower. It was kind of a crazy day. We played a clever game at the baby shower. The shower organizer, Joanna, bought a bunch of candy (it must’ve cost a fortune!), and then she read off a list of clues, and you were supposed to guess the name of the candy bar from the clue. For instance, “Your hospital delivery doctor,” was “Butterfingers.” I myself answered one of them correctly and therefore received the prize (that pack of candy). The clue was “epidurals” and my answer was, “lifesavers.” I had forgotten how good Lifesavers are.\par

And then of course, there was Thanksgiving. This year for Thanksgiving we went to my in-laws for a Thanksgiving bruch, so that Michael’s grandfather would have a family event to go to in Vancouver before going home to watch football.
The brunch was very good, but I felt sleepy all the way through it, which was the pattern for the day. Mostly we ate, then sat around and looked at the ads for the Day After Thanksgiving Sales and sort of watched the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade on TV. The boys played of course, and had a wonderful time. After that, we went home, and prepared more pineapple to take as a fruit salad to the very, very, big gathering at some church friends’ house. There were around 60 people there, scattered at tables set up throughout the house. My goodness it was a big production! The food was plentiful and good, the company pleasant, and again I felt sleepy most of the time. They had a play area set up out of the main thoroughfares for\’c3\’82\’c2\~the little boys, and again Judah and Ezra had a great time and we didn’t even have to watch them that much of the time.\’c3\’82\’c2\~Michael went out and played football with some of the other guys. Ezra and I went and watched for a while. It was very cold out, but a beautiful day. When we got home around 7:30, we almost just went went straight to bed, we were so tired (the boys were in bed already of course), but instead we stayed up and watched The Pacifier which was entertaining. So that was Thanksgiving.\par

Friday and Saturday actually were nice, relaxing days. Michael and I both kind of\’c3\’82\’c2\~felt that we should go shopping, since everybody else in the world seemed to be. But there wasn’t anything we particularly wanted for sure, so we largely refrained. Michael did go out Saturday afternoon with Judah to Costco and the mall – he came back with five new dress-shirts.
And he brought home take-out Chinese food for dinner. It was fun to get takeout, even though it was decidedly lackluster Chinese food. The eggrolls were particularly disappointing, as they weren’t crispy on the outside at all.\par

So, a happy belated Thanksgiving to all, and good luck in the last few weeks before Christmas, I know I’m gonna need it!\par
