Thursday

I haven’t blogged much lately – don’t know why exactly. I think of things to write sometimes, but when I get to the computer, I’ve forgotten, or my chosen topic seems too big. For instance, while reading a JC Ryle book about evangelists in the mid 1700s, I kept noting that the family lives of these evangelists were either very meager or downright nasty! I started working on a theory that traveling constantly and never taking a break except to eat or sleep is not good for one’s marriage or children. I thought about writing up a big post about it, but then the next evangelist I read about had 7 children with the same woman and it kind of blew my theory out of the water. (Actually it didn’t, because he didn’t travel all of the time and actually kept a very regular schedule which included time with his family) Anyway, it was too big of a topic for me, and I scuttled it.\par

I could’ve written about reading\’c3\’82\’c2\~The Red Badge of Courage, but I didn’t because I couldn’t think of much to say.\’c3\’82\’c2\~ It read easily\’c3\’82\’c2\~enough, though I don’t think I could say that I enjoyed it. It was blessedly short.\par

I’ve been trying to email my sister nearly every day, and that probably hasn’t helped my blogging either, since I’d already written a short daily update already. Plus, who wants a blow by blow of every day of my life?!\par

But I might as well write about today a little…. Today was the every other Thursday that I take the boys up to my in-laws in Washington to do crafts with Grandma Valerie and Uncle Zane. We made turkeys today by tracing the boys hands on to paper then pasting feathers onto the upright fingers and drawing beaks on the thumb and legs on the palm. Ezra especially loves squirting glitter glue all over the place – he doesn’t care about too much else. Judah and Zane got into the turkeys however. In the afternoon I was thinking that I hadn’t done school with the boys yet, and then I thought, “Wait a minute!! We did art today!”\par

After we got home, Ezra took a nap, and Judah took quiet time, and I cleaned out the storeroom. This was a major thing! I have been dreading and avoiding cleaning out the storeroom for untold months. But my goal this week was to clean up the basement, and I’d already done the laundry room, so it was time. It took me 40 minutes to make a HUGE difference. 40 minutes! Months and months of dread and procrastination, and it took me 40 minutes!!! It’s not completely done yet, but you can walk and vacuum in there and now we’ll actually be able to allow guests in without hiding our faces in shame! Praise God! I was so excited that when Alice came over this afternoon (for her kids’ piano lessons with Rose) I even made her come downstairs and admire it with me. :-) \par

Well, that’s all for now.
