Reformation Night

\’c3\’82\’c2\~Here we are in our costumes for our church’s annual celebration of Reformation Day (otherwise known as Halloween). The idea is to dress in period costume. Some people do really well, others just kind of fudge it, and some people let their kids “be” whoever they want to be, since it’s not like you get to dress up for any other holidy throughout the year! This is the first year Judah’s been willing to dress up. Ezra did too, for the picture, but then took off his knight’s uniform and went in sweats. I’m wearing a housedress of my mother’s from before I was born. For some reason it looks almost plausibly midieval, and I can wear it when I’m pregnant. Judah’s beautiful robe and crown were made by his Grandma Valerie. The rest is one of Daddy’s t-shirts, some scarves and a drumstick spray-painted gold (which he lost in the car on the way to the event!). Ezra is sheer value village/garage sale cheap plastic. Kind of looks like Darth Vader, really. Or maybe Lando Calrissian in Return of the Jedi.\’c3\’82\’c2\~\’c3\’82\’c2\~\par

Judah “Liked-ed the candy!” Well, they both liked the candy. It isn’t my favorite event of the year, as after-bedtime events combined with costumes and guiding small children through booths along with a billion other people tends to be exhausting. But it’s a good thing to do, and the boys had a blast!\par
