Well, it’s been about a week and a half and I’m not so seriously considering painting my room green anymore. I am feeling an overwhelming urge to get my house completely in order – as in everything. I wonder how long that’ll last?\par

Right now I was on the internet surfing for recipes to make a side dish for the fourth of July even that we’re going to. I discovered a red white and blue jello dish that looks fun and appetizing. It was almost the first thing I looked at, but I actually don’t enjoy surfing the web for recipes THAT much, so I took the first thing that looked good (and easy).\par

We went blueberry picking on Saturday. Rose came with us, and between the three of us (not counting the boys who’s help was negligable, and perhaps even negative) we picked 17 1/2 pounds of blueberries – more than I’ve ever picked before, I’m certain. I have two gallon bags stuffed to the gills in the freezer, took a bowl of blueberries as a salad to church on Sunday, put some in a jello salad to go to some friend’s yesterday (that’s what lead into the jello salad interest – if she hadn’t asked for one, it would never have occurred to me!), had blueberry pancakes yesterday and today – and I still have a whole bowl left in the refrigerator! Such abundance!\par

Yesterday we went to the house of some friends in the country – about 35 minutes away from our house. We had a pleasant afternoon and evening there. The weather was warm, and the boys played outside nearly the whole time, where the guys were sitting outside smoking cigars and talking. The women stayed inside talking, most of the time. It was very enjoyable, not least because Michael was responsible for the boys almost all the time! Our friends had built their house and it was very beautiful and their garden was inspiring – relatively small (relative to the garden belonging to the pastor the church I grew up in) – but much larger and more impressive than anything I’ve ever attempted. I had to remind myself that I have two little boys to take care of, which limits my options a lot, in terms of getting projects (like home decorating and gardening) done!\par

And yet… here I am, writing on my blog. Well… It’s too hot to garden right now, anyway!\par

One thing I’ve realized as I get our house in order — it’s all unpacked, but not fully “in order” yet — is that it’s actually easier to do when you’ve been in a place for awhile because you know where you use things, where are the convenient places, and where are the hiding nooks and crannies for extra storage.\par
I was at Costco today and brought home two boxes with high sides in which to keep our sheets in our upstairs linen closet. Who cares if sheets are wrinkled?

I have one hint: next time you go to Costco, grab a few extra boxes (the kinds with the low sides) from the big pile (ours keeps a large pile by the bathrooms in the front, or sometimes people leave the boxes in the carts in the cart return) and use them as “drawers” in closets. It makes storage more convenient because you can move a whole section or pull down a whole section without rummaging and “unordering” the whole closet to find one thing.
We went to pick blueberries today, but they weren’t any more til THURS…said they were all picked out on SAT. Must have been a popular blueberry picking day. We did come home with about 8 1/2 pounds of rasberries though that we all picked and bought a few blueberries that were there in the store as well. Was fun to pick berries and eat some too! The boys were running around with rasberries on their fingers like olives! LOL!
