Busy Time

Michael’s busy time is January through April 15 (and the first half of October). Mine tends to be right now… April 16 though mid-July. That’s because after the deprivations of tax season, everything seems to be in fast-forward, but also because this is the time of year for memorial services (hopefully no more of those any time soon!), family visits (Michael’s grandmother and aunt are staying with us this week, Wednesday and Thursday nights), revitalizing our social life (as in, having people over for dinner more often), the beginning of the wedding season, yard work and home improvement, another business trip of Michael’s in July, and, most important of all, Family Camp.\par

So, I’m writing even less frequently than I was earlier this year.\’c3\’82\’c2\~\par

Items of note: I just ordered 9.5 cubic yards of bark dust yesterday to be delivered Monday. That way we can spend Saturday, Memorial Day and the next day (Michael took it off), pulling up tons of weeds and spreading bark dust. I’m really looking forward to it. Not. Actually, what I’m looking forward to is not being embarrassed every time I drive or walk past my front yard!\par

Michael’s Grandma Donna and Aunt Sandy are staying here right now. They came last night around 5:30, we all had dinner and a nice evening, then they left around 8:30 to spend a day at the coast. They’ll come back tonight around 5:30 bearing pizza, and presumably leave tomorrow morning to continue on their Oregon vacation seeing and staying with other relatives. So it’s a pretty low-key visit, in terms of requiring much of me. All I had to do was prepare my guest rooms and clean house. Actually, I really like having guests because it forces me to do just that! I also made a new recipe last night involving pork shoulder steaks ($1.38/lb at Winco) and a home-made oriental marinade consisting largely of honey, soy sauce, beef boullion and spices. It was easy, it was good, I’ll have to make it again!\par

Tomorrow morning I’m taking the boy to Honeycomb Kids at Melanie’s house. I’m hoping that Judah will recite the summary of the law. I’m not holding my breath though… he’s not exactly wild about performing for a room full of people. But that’s the point of Honeycomb kids, really.. to give kids experience speaking to other groups, as well as a deadline for memorizing things! Judah’s only 3 though, so I think we can cut him some slack! :-) He did recite his verses for his great-aunt this morning though, so maybe he’ll be up to it tomorrow. He’s certainly looking forward to going!\par

Well, the point of this was just to keep my blog from getting too stagnant. But, I need to go do other things right now during my quiet time while the boys are.. well.. quiet. I’m trying to catch up on family photos. Talk to y’all later!
