I feel like my blog has been kind of lifeless lately. I’d like to write deep thoughts from time to time, and yet my days are largely made up of the mundane thoughts that are so unimportant, yet so necessary (i.e. Is there milk in the refrigerator? How long has that sippy cup been sitting out? Where’s Ezra? What was that loud bang?) So, eventually, when a deep thought hits, I’ll be sure to run down and type it up really quick so that my entire readership (all 4 or 5 of them!) will know that every once in a while “Elly has a deep thought.” In the meantime, I guess we’ll have to stick with the stories of my beautiful ordinary life happenings.\par

However, I just read the article in World magazine by the author of Hank the Cowdog, regarding his mother and motherhood in general. He quoted the old phrase: “The hand that rocks the cradle, rules the world.” I like that. I think I’ll make that into a caligraphy and hang it on the nursery wall as a motivational reminder.

We like to hear about your beautiful ordinary life happenings!
I go through that from time to time. But if you keep a notebook with you sometimes it helps to jot things down. Not necessarily “Deep Thoughts”-that’s just too much pressure. But just things you’d like to talk about.\par
On the flip side my kids and I were laughing about how everything starts to look like a potential blog post-”And she took the last piece of the lassagne and I says…” And the other day Oldest Boy did something goofy and then said “You won’t blog about that will ya?”
I find that when I run out of things to post about, it’s a sure sign that I haven’t done sufficiently interesting things lately. Therefore it becomes an occasion to fabricate and perform some strange activity. The activity will preferably something that normal people would never do themselves but would nevertheless enjoy reading accounts of others doing it. This was the result of one such dry spell.\par

Of course, then it becomes a contest of which is worse: not having any blog material, or exposing your pride to foolish and/or potentially embarrassing situations.
I also like to hear about your so-called “mundane” daily happenings. I saw that quote somewhere recently as well, and I thought it was inspiring. Just thinking about it now makes me feel more determined to take on the day with energy and purpose! (And I haven’t even had coffee….yet. )
