Yes, I’m excited! Actually, this post is a little late, Tax Season ended on Tuesday, April 17. But nonetheless, I am excited and reveling in the now-somewhat-strange sensation of having my husband home during the daylight hours other than on Sunday!\par

The boys don’t seem to know quite what’s going on, either. When Michael came home on Tuesday night at 6:00 to pick me up to take me to the after tax season party, the boys just kind of looked at him. (Normally, before tax season, they would run to him jumping up and down and yelling ‘daddy! daddy!”) Ezra had been practicing falling down, so he just lay on the floor and observed him, and Judah said, “It’s Daddy…” and then seemed to expect me to keep reading him the book we were in the middle of.” But they’ve been having a lot of fun since then (Michael had Wednesday off, and took Thursday, too, so he’s been home most of two days in a row now!).\par

We went to the After Tax Season party that Michael’s firm held at Uptown Billiards, this year. I don’t think I’ve ever been to a place quite like it. It had a full bar, a little buffet table with appetizer type things, and later they brought out dessert. There was a little sitting area, but half of the room was full of pool (billiard?) tables, and there was a large gambling area, as well. Not my normal hang-out. The music was blaringly loud, making conversation with anyone difficult, if not impossible – but I got the impression few people were interested in conversation anyway. I had my first “shot” ever – something called “Jaeger-Maester (sp?).” Which tastes like strong black licorice and rubbing alcohol. I think it’s odd that people will give you something to drink, tell you to swallow it quickly because it tastes “nasty,” and then ask you how you liked it. Anyway, we left before 10:00, which we both acknowledged was “pathetic” but after all, we were tired. How anybody can stand music that loud for longer than 2 hours, I don’t know. It was even louder than the fellowship hall during lunch at our church.
And of course, Michael had worked from 5:30 am\’c3\’82\’c2\~to 12:30 pm\’c3\’82\’c2\~on Monday, and insane hours the week before, so I was surprised he wasn’t asleep on his feet anyway.\par

As tax seasons go, I think this one was better than the year before. Our morning schedule which we kept to until about a month ago or so worked out really nicely, and Michael saw more of the boys that way. The last two weeks were his busiest ever, though. I think he worked nearly 90 hours last week. Praise God that’s over for another year!\par

We celebrated today with a big dinner of lazagna with fruit salad (the same as Grandma Rachel made last week which Judah liked so much), garlic bread (sourdough of course), and cake. We had Matt and Ana over for dinner and then Matt and Michael went to a school board meeting, Ana went to another appointment and I.. stayed here. Which is good, because I feel like I’ve been\’c3\’82\’c2\~cooking all day and there are several Stargate SG1 episodes calling my name for this evening.\par

I have more things to write about: Anna Karenina, my trip to my parents, and my more recent experiments in bread-baking, but I’m running out of steam tonight, so I’m going to go watch my\’c3\’82\’c2\~TV program!\’c3\’82\’c2\~\par

Goodnight!
