Both Judah and Ezra have colds, and yesterday morning Judah was coughing and hacking particularly violently, so we made the decision not to bring them to church at all (not just to keep them out of Sunday school which is our intermediary step for mild colds). We did it just for public health reasons, but I ended up really enjoying the fact by the end of the day.\par

Michael had to teach Sunday school, so he went over to church (3 minutes away) first, then came back, at which point I shot out the door and went to the actual service at 11:00. I had had plenty of time to prepare. I didn’t have to bring plates or tablecloths or placemats or cups, etc.., because it was just me, so it would’ve been silly. I’ll admit it felt odd to sit in church by myself, but I got to listen to the entire sermon and was never once distracted by a small child wiggling. Then at lunch time I got to talk to all sorts of people without once having to look around to make sure one of the boys wasn’t getting into things or was still in sight. When we ate lunch I sat next to friends and visited the entire time without feeding or cleaning up a toddler. I was so enthused and happy by the end of church, I hated to go home and I was more jazzed upon returning than I was when I left!\par

Don’t get me wrong, I love taking my children to church and knowing that it is an essential element in their lives, that we’re passing on the faith, etc. And singing at church sounded a little empty without Michael’s base in my ear. But all in all, it was a great break from routine and one I wouldn’t mind repeating from time to time!\par

Hi Ely-I just wanted to say hello and tell you we are back on-line. So we can catch up on each other-other than in the noisey lunch room…
