We went to see Superman Returns today! Angela, my sister-in-law offered to watch the boys at her house while we went to see the movie at a theatre in Vancouver, which was very nice. Furthermore, the boys both did pretty well, neither one of them becoming inconsolable at the loss of mom, which is generally my chief concern. We went to a matinee at Cinetopia, a new high-definition theatre relatively close to my in-laws’.\par

What a great movie!! It was everything I would hope for in a movie based on a comic book character – every bit as good as the recent Spiderman movies. If you liked those (which I did), you’d like this one, too. I thought that it was funny and corny in the way you expect Superman to be, and although it was sometimes predictable, it wasn’t predictable at key points where, if they had done what I had expected, the movie would be the worse for it. I especially liked the fact that the sentimental father-son moments were very understated, so they didn’t end up mushy or cloying like they could’ve been. Whatever-his-name-is who’se playing the new, remodeled Superman does a very good job, too – fits the bill perfectly and does an excellent geek, in the form of Clark Kent.\par

Michael brought back the fooseball table from his parent’s house – apparently he paid for part of it aeons ago, when they acquired it, and they no longer use it – so we get to have it in our storeroom now. We got that out of the Pilot and set up after dinner, went for a brief walk, gave the boys baths, and put Judah to bed. Ezra stayed up for quite a while, long enough to take part in our rootbeer floats, but he is now in bed, going to bed whether he likes it or not (he doesn’t). I hope he goes to sleep soon!\par

We were playing with Ezra on the living room floor a few moments ago, and he was going from a sitting position to a crawling position, and making one crawling movement before he flopped down on his tummy and rolled over. We were trying to get him to walk back and forth between us, too,\’c3\’82\’c2\~but he’s not there yet. Babies are such fun! Ezra’s quite a cutie wearing just shorts with his very large little baby tummy hanging out over the top of it – healthy looking kid!\par

It’s not nearly so hot here as it was at the beginning of the week, although it’s still 80 degrees or so upstairs. It was even cool enough that I baked another loaf of sourdough bread this evening, this time in a loaf pan. Michael expressed interest in having sourdough bread that one could use to make french toast, and the round shape I normally make it in doesn’t work so well for that, so I tried it in a normal loaf pan. It seemed to work pretty well, although the top browned a little too much and I had to cover it with foil until the inside was done. The only downside to this sourdough business is that one is somewhat obliged to keep using it (i.e. making bread), even when it is really too hot to be baking. Like Alice said, you’re either making it regularly, or your not doing it at all – although I suppose I could freeze the starter until fall. Oh well, maybe we’ll be in for a cool spell next week??\par

Alana and Ezra must be closer in age then I originally thought. I thought he was quite a bit older just because he looks bigger then her! I forget sometimes that she really is small for her age. Alana is 7 1/2 months, how old is Ezra? I’m glad you had fun at the movie, it’s always nice to get out for a little bit every now and again isn’t it?
I was wondering about that movie. The main guy looks..well..kinda cheesy perfect and we were wondering how corny it would be. Maybe we’ll give it a try, because we did like Spiderman, but probably not till it comes out on video.
Ezra is 9 months old and he’s VERY big for his age.
Spiderman would be good on video too, although the special effects were really fantastic on the big screen. I’m not a big special effects person, but for some reason I tend to have a hard time telling what’s going on when watching our much smaller screen at home and I do enjoy that almost “right there” quality you get at the theatre. We only go out to see movies maybe 3 times a year though – you pay through the nose for the privilege!!!
