Ding, Dong, the Junk is Gone!

Hallelujah – the 50 years accumulated clutter that my grandmother left in our basement is G-O-N-E, Gone! Special thanks to my mom and dad who came and took most of it to the dump and some of it to Goodwill this morning. The only depressing thing – seeing how much is left…. OURS. And we’ve only been married for 5 years!! But now we can truly see it, and hopefully that will lead to it’s control and pruning. :-) Thanks Mom and Dad!!!

You are very welcome. Sorry it took so long! The trip with the U-haul went uneventfully, which is what one wants with a U-haul. Now the goal is to sort through the stuff that has taken up residence in my basement. Hopefully it will be just a summer project!

  • Yay! De-junking feels so good….AFTER it’s gone and done, that is. :) Going from 1912 sqft to 1220 helped us. I’m rather enjoying the pruned lifestyle with no extra room for anything…well, then there’s the garage… :)

  • Sometimes I feel like I am a slave to my junk (not to mention the kids toys). Why do we do this to ourselves???!!!

Why do we bury ourselves in junk? So that we have something truly tangible and valuable to leave behind – like cracked and repaired vases, plastic sacks full of used disposable pie tins, 50 year old, mildewed World Book sets, and various other “antiques” that will leave us fondly remembered by our grateful offspring. That’s why.
