Laid Up

On Monday evening we went for a walk, and when we got back I noticed that my right calf was sore – I’d been favoring my right toe by walking on the outside of my foot – without really even noticing it. Ever since then my toe’s been getting a little more noticeably sore, but still no big deal. On Thursday I went to the mall in the morning (in search of bridal shower and graduation gifts!) which required a lot of walking and in the evening I went to a bridal shower, where I realized I was noticeably limping. After I got home that night my toe started to hurt more and more and when I woke up in the morning I could only walk by shuffling along like a person with a cast on.\par

Does that seem odd? To have what feels like a sprained toe without being able to remember having injured it? I thought so, so I went to the doctor’s office yesterday afternoon (poor Michael had to cancel a 4:00 appointment so he could come and take me and the boys – I couldn’t drive) to have it checked out. Well, as far as they can tell, it is a sprained toe, so I have to do all of the normal sprain things – ice it, take ibuprofen, try to stay off of it. I felt silly going in, but I didn’t want to put off going until the problem was much worse. (This is a resolution I made after putting off getting the chicken pox vaccine long enough that I got the actual virus when 6 months pregnant – no more putting off medical things just because they’re inconvenient!)\par

So, here I am, laid up. Fortunately, it’s the weekend and Michael IS home – well, that is, he isn’t working. He and Judah went off to the Steps for Life marathon this morning. I bet Judah will love that! A lot of people he knows will be there, and what could be better than an outing with Daddy that involves being outside, new t-shirts and shaped baloons?!!

  • My goodness! Yes, I probably wouldn’t have gone in, but I’m glad you did! I hope you recover quickly — and get lots of reading or handiwork in! :)
