Since January! Yes, Michael and I went out last night sans-childlets! Patty Prentice came over around 5:45 to babysit the kids, bless her heart. Judah didn’t scream when he saw her coming, which was an improvement, but I was not able to get away without a “Oh please don’t leave me, don’t you love me” hysterical fit. Patty lent me her cell phone, so I called from the highway to see if he’d stopped crying. Oh yes, he was fine and they were watching a movie. Phew, that was a load off my mind.\par

We went out to an Italian restaurant called Mama Mia’s something and it was very nice! Michael had a gift card from somebody for it, so I didn’t worry about the prices (which were pretty reasonable for the entrees, though kind of expensive for the drinks, I thought!) and I ordered a 10″ pizza and Michael ordered veal parmisan. Very, very good. The pizza had a pesto sauce and was loaded with sauteed onions and mushrooms, Italian sausage, spinach, and fresh tomatoes. All of the things Michael hates.
(except the Italian sausage and tomatoes) We had a very nice time with good conversation, although it was difficult to hear each other due to the noise level in the room. I parked by Michael’s office building (he had taken the bus), so we had a 7 block or so walk to and from the restaurant which was nice – especially on the way there. It was pretty chilly on the way back. I had forgotten even to bring a sweater, so Michael lent me his jacket – he thought I wouldn’t want it because it was so big on me, but I explained that it was kind of like girls wearing guy’s varsity jackets – the point is that it’s not yours – it’s your guy’s!\par

Today is Saturday, and Michael is home!!! Well, right now he’s out trying to play basketball during Judah’s nap. But the point is that he’s home and doing normal husband things like mowing the back lawn and seeing to car maintenance. Ahhh, the beauty of tax season is that it’s eventually over! And when normal life begins again it is SUCH a luxury! Unfortunately, Judah is sick again. This time he woke up and after a few minutes started crying and gagging and eventually ended up throwing up twice. He didn’t eat any breakfast and wanted a nap around 8:30. Since his nap he’s been feeling better and he ate macaroni and cheese for lunch, so hopefully it was just an extremely short bout with the flu. Poor guy – the whole vomiting thing is very new to him – he just doesn’t understand! Because of his illness though we had to cancel our evening plans of going to the Evans’ for dinner. So sad.
Oh well, hopefully there will be other opportunities.\par

So, that’s how things are in my part of the woods, and now I should go and make tatertot casserole for church tomorrow!
