Today was a good day, but now I am running down and wondering if I should attempt anything else before I just give up the ghost and go to bed and read for a while. Michael is working late tonigh – just like last night, and the night before, and just like he most likely will be through Saturday night this week. But April 15 is coming soon (or April 17, which is the day of blessed release this year) and the end is in sight. And, just as in previous tax seasons, I really haven’t been impatient until this, the last week of the Season – the Season which means nothing to those who are not involved in public accounting, but which means something huge and sometimes hideous to those who are.\par

But today was a good day. This morning we got up at a normal time, but somehow were faster than usual getting it all together to go to Grandma’s for our weekly visit. As I drove out I gloried in the incredible greens available around here and the somewhat rare occasion of a beautiful sunny morning in April. I remembered that Grandma had always been fond of being able to see the hills in Molalla, so I decided that today we would not stay in her one little room and eat cookies and candy and try to make conversation – we would go on a walk to the park right across the street behind the senior center. And we did. Despite some logistical difficulties (I hadn’t brought my sling, so Ezra was in the stroller… and how do you push a wheel-chair and\’c3\’82\’c2\~a stroller at the same time?), we made it to the park where nothing of great moment happened – nobody got hurt, nobody fell out of their wheelchair, nobody fell off of a swing – it didn’t rain, nothing. So that was great. Grandma enjoyed the outdoors and the break in her routine, even if it was tiring, and Judah enjoyed being able to run around and play on the play structure\’c3\’82\’c2\~rather than trying to entertain himself with the things in Grandma’s room – 70 percent of which he’s not supposed to touch.\par

On the way home I stopped and bought a 7″ zipper for the skirt I’m making and hoping to finish by Easter. (ha ha)\’c3\’82\’c2\~Then I stopped by Alice’s and borrowed her drywall knife. We got home, ate lunch, the boys went down for naps, and I got to work on my skirt. Again, nothing of great moment happend – I didn’t iron a hole in the skirt, didn’t\’c3\’82\’c2\~destroy the zipper, haven’t done anything terrible yet. So that’s good, since frequently it seems like my sewing projects end with a gasp. But the skirt isn’t finished yet, so I shouldn’t be too exultant! Actually, I have a ways to go yet, but I’d gotten to the point of putting the zipper in tonight and I decided that 9:00 was no time to be trying to put a zipper in. That’s the time when you think you know what you’re doing.. until it’s too late.\par

Anyway – back to this afternoon. I worked on my skirt, cut a hole in the basement bathroom ceiling, (long story) and took a shovel to the multitude of dandelions growing in the bark dust in my front yard. For dinner I made Fettucini Alfredo, more or less, with real whipping cream and\’c3\’82\’c2\~romano cheese and chicken and broccoli, which Judah actually liked. Then it was bathtime, and bedtime for Judah. Ezra held out for another hour and a half, but he is finally asleep too, and I am free. But now that I’m free I don’t know what to do! I don’t know what to do, and I’m craving ice cream, and I have none. Oh well. But it was still a good day, and I’m thankful!
