More Potty Training…

Just an update on the potty training process… Judah is doing quite well with “tinkling” in the potty, but he’s having a really difficult time with the whole bowel movement thing. He’ll go to the potty without prompting for the first, but has yet to do that at all for the second, and in fact, tonight was the first time since last Friday where he’s actually done a number 2 in the potty!!! And that was after he had started in his pants and I had made him sit on the potty for a long time. I told him we were both just going to sit there until he went in the potty, and eventually he did, but it took at least half an hour, during which time I tried to convince him of what a grow-up thing it would be, and read him some books (notably “Yankee Doodle Went to Town” which he loves because it refers to one of his favorite foods).\’c3\’82\’c2\~ If anybody has any brilliant hints on how to get a toddler to have a bowel movement IN THE POTTY, I would appreciate any useful ideas! One friend suggested having him wave goodbye as the toilet was flushed, but he loves flushing the toilet and until there’s something to put in it…. Well, you get the idea. Hopefully this isn’t too “graphic” for anybody!!
