I have a praise

At our prayer meetings, people frequently report an answer to a previous prayer with the phrase “I have a praise.” So I would like to relate a recent answer to a prayer of mine. The incident was.. well, incidental, the eternal consequences were minor, but boy, was the prayer fervent!\par

I drove my mom, dad, and sister to the Portland Airport yesterday so they could fly to Tokyo for my brother’s wedding on April 1st (March 31st, in our time zone!). I had to drive their van because it was the only vehicle which would (barely) fit my two kids in car seats plus 4 adults and their luggage for an 8 day trip. On my way back, I was keeping my eye on the gas gauge, since it was pretty low. Well, the empty light came on – the idiot light that looks like a gas pump. I thought “Oh, I suppose I’d better stop somewhere on my way home and get gas, just to be safe.” That’s when I realized that in the bustle to get everybody out of the door at 6:40 a.m. I had forgotten my purse. So there I was, driving through morning traffic, in somebody else’s vehicle, with no license, no cash, two babies in car seats – and the empty light was on! No choice but to continue on and pray. We made it home without running out of fuel and I am sincerely grateful. Praise God from whom all blessings flow!

  • Amen! I know just how that feels! I watched our Expedition’s “miles to empty” go from 10 to 0 while going to the corner gas station, half a mile away, last summer. I don’t let it get below 30 anymore!
