Questions?

For those more savvy than I..\par

How do you write those nice hyperlinks that only have a name rather than those messy pasted in urls I’ve been using? I suspect that I knew how once, but apparently I’ve forgotten.\par
\par
How do those “tag” games work? How do you know you’ve been tagged?\par
\par
That’s all! :-) \par

  • Hyperlink syntax:\par
    \par
<a href="http://www.google.com" title="This text is displayed when the mouse hovers over the link">This text is displayed on the page</a>\par

Or your installation of WordPress might have plugins installed (such as Textile or Markdown) to make it easier to create links…for example, Markdown uses the following syntax:\par
    \par
[text to display](http://uri-to-link-to.blah "text for mouse hover")\par
    \par
Much more concise. If it’s not installed, you need to harass Ben until it is. :)

  • The easy way to do it (i.e. the way that would make Matt cringe): On the page where you make your posts, there is a row of buttons. One says “link.” Highlight the word or words that you want to be linked, then click that button, then put the URL in the box that pops up, then click ok — and it does all the code for you! :) \par

I don’t know about the tag games…I’m afraid Matt might ban my account if I participated in one. :) My guess is you have to be reading all your friends’ blogs to see if they tag you at the end of one of those kinda things.

What’s Matt’s problem with tag games – if you don’t mind my asking? :-) (and he doesn’t mind you telling)

  • This pretty well sums it up, I think.

Thanks for the help Matt – except that kind of looks like gibberish to me – no offense. I’ll try to decipher it later – when my mind is working. Could be a while.
