Ahh, plumbing.

I heard dripping today as I passed the top of the stairs. So I put the baby down under a toy and ran downstairs to find the source of the noise. Oh, joy, oh, bliss, there was water dripping rapidly out of the ceiling in the basement bathroom. The ceiling was flat except for a funnel shaped…bulge.. from which the water was dripping. There was a lot of water on the floor. It wasn’t dripping last night, though so it looks like something sprung a leak while the shower upstairs\’c3\’82\’c2\~was running this morning. The yard is also a disaster with totally ineffective bark-chips sprouting weeds all over, and a huge deck that badly needs to be painted. The joys of home ownership – perhaps we should move into a rental!!\par

But of course, it’s important to remember that, in the light of eternity, all of that is supremely unimportant. So, I will try to be content and not get overwhelmed with the potential tasks and expenses ahead!

One thing at a time Elly – altho you’re right on the money with the relative unimportance of these inconveniences! It’s too early in the year to be painting your deck, right? And it wouldn’t really take much to buy some weed killer in a spray bottle next time you’re at Wal-Mart and spray those weeds down. But the water leak is a little larger problem – ack!!! Hope it’s not a huge problem and easily fixed!!

  • Yeah, move into a rental….and wait a week or two for the property management’s repair guy to come fix anything! :)

  • Rand says you probably need to change your shower valve. (He read this over my shoulder)\par

You don’t want to live in a rental. We did that for a little while and I lived in daily terror that one of the kiddos would write on the walls or something. I was so glad when we got our own house-repairs and all. :)

Thanks for the reality check gals! I wasn’t really very serious about the rental bit, anyway – just whining. Besides, it would hurt my accountant’s sensibilities – not building equity, you know!
