Now I have Leap Frog “Talking Words Factory” going on in the background – and since that’s a little more intellectual than “Winnie the Pooh” I feel like perhaps I can explain why I chose Home Despot as the title for my blog.\par

As a young girl I was significantly bothered by the doctrine of biblical headship (on the part of the husband – probably wouldn’t have been so upset if it was the other way around). It wasn’t fair, it didn’t make sense to me, and I just plain didn’t like it. Well, sometimes I still kick against the goads, but for the most part I’m pretty well reconciled to the situation. For one thing, I\’c3\’82\’c2\~like not being solely responsible for everything. Besides which, the world only functions well when there is an authority structure, and the same goes for a family. Imagine if the President and Vice President had theoretically co-equal powers of government? What a mess! Even if they agreed most of the time, how terrible would it be if they simply didn’t agree about something (say, going to war) and the poor military kept getting contradictory orders with their morning coffee? (go to war, no, don’t, deploy the troops, no, don’t…)\par

\’c3\’82\’c2\~But, I still like to read articles like Doug Wilson’s The Wife as Ruler (see http://www.credenda.org/issues/12-3husbandry.php). (Sorry, I don’t know how to make proper hyperlinks, yet.)\’c3\’82\’c2\~An article such as that emphasizes the wife’s duty to “guide the home” (I Tim. 5:14\’c3\’82\’c2\~ ) which, as Wilson explains in the article means that the wife is the “home despot.” Basically, it means that as the second-in-command I am responsible for the functioning of the home in most of the day-to-day details and am “the mistress of all I survey.” And I like that. When my kids are grown, I’m not sure I could go back to being merely an employee, after being a home despot. Home Despot sounds so much more impressive than Homemaker, don’t you think? So that’s why I chose the name – to remind myself that I’m not just a housekeeper, I’m a\par

When faced with huge decisions that I know only my husband can make, I am known to say, ” I LIKE this submission stuff!”

BTW, your link worked.
Some days I’m more despotic than others, lol!
